Changes to our Prayer Meeting
Next Wednesday (August 16th) is our monthly prayer meeting and we are making changes to the prayer meeting.
Firstly, to allow more to participate you will be able to join the prayer meeting on Zoom if you cannot join us in person. Those joining on Zoom will be able to both hear and pray in the meeting. [The Zoom link is provided in the BPC Friday News].
Secondly, we are refreshing the format by bringing a little more structure to the prayer meeting. The first half hour will be devoted exclusively to praying for the gospel to be preached and heard in our community and our world, and for the Lord to save many. Our society is suffering for its sin but there is a great blindness to the truth of the gospel. We should be asking the Lord to open blind eyes, and to give boldness in making the gospel known. Then the next fifteen minutes we will focus on the needs of the congregation – for our own godliness, for coming events like the women’s conference and the Youth Group and Evening Congregation camps, and for the selection committee’s work. The final fifteen minutes will be devoted to more personal needs, for praying, for example, for those who are sick amongst us.
Thirdly, to help facilitate prayer after the first thirty minutes we will be putting those joining us by Zoom into breakout rooms of 6-10 people so that all have an opportunity to pray as desired. Those in the auditorium will continue as a whole group.
We are commanded to pray and the practice of the early church was to pray together as well as on our own. We are seeking what only God can do – bringing people from death to life, making blind eyes see, and stirring us up by His Spirit to be faithful and bold in seeking the lost. So join us, either on Zoom or in person in the auditorium, this coming Wednesday.
BPC Prayer Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, 7.30pm in the BPC Auditorium
or via Zoom.
