MORNING SERMON SERIES

The Gospel of Matthew

(Jan - Oct 2021)

During 2021 the morning congregations will be working through Matthew's gospel. From Sunday 18th July, the morning sermon series will resume the gospel of Matthew in Chapter 10, "The Call of the King". Resource downloads and bible readings covered are available by clicking the links below.

Preparation for the Ministry of the King

Matthew Chapters 1-4

This is the introduction to the gospel where we meet Jesus, and see how He is qualified from His birth to be the saving King of God's people.

Discipleship

Matthew Chapters 4-7

One of the features of Matthew is that Jesus' teaching on the distinctive life of His disciples, is introduced straight after He calls His first disciples. Jesus is making it clear from the outset, how life (values, righteousness and attitudes) will be different amongst His followers.

The Call of the King

Matthew Chapters 10

Jesus makes His disciples the answer to their own prayer, that the Lord of the Harvest would send out labourers into the harvest [Matt 9:38]. Although we live on the other side of the resurrection, in His instruction to them about how they are to go about their mission, there is much we can learn about how we are to 'make disciples of all nations' [Matt 28:19].
